Embolisation des fibromes utérins en Côte d’Ivoire : comment je fais ?

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is booming in sub-Saharan Africa, in Côte d'Ivoire. It is an endovascular therapeutic technique for uterine fibroids that is minimally invasive and performed on an outpatient basis with complete recovery in 7-10 days. It does not lead to recurrence and the uterus remains preserved for procreation. Pregnancy is therefore possible after UFE. It is of recent establishment in sub-Saharan Africa, and, in Ivory Coast since February 2012. But this practice remains of slow installation in our country because of the high cost of the particles of embolization.
RESUME
L’embolisation des fibromes utérins (EFU) est en plein essor en Afrique subsaharienne, en Côte d’Ivoire. Il s’agit d’une technique thérapeutique endovasculaire des fibromes utérins peu invasive et qui se fait en ambulatoire avec une récupération complète en 7-10 jours. Elle n’entraine pas de récidive et l’utérus reste conservé pour la procréation. La survenue d’une grossesse est donc possible après EFU. Elle est d’implantation récente en Afrique subsaharienne, et, en Côte d’Ivoire depuis février 2012. Mais cette pratique reste d’installation lente dans notre pays du fait du coût élevé des particules d’embolisation.
