Data collection was carried out through interviews with workers, direct observation and/or measurements of radiology infrastructures, radiology and radiation protection equipment. The data studied related to the radiology rooms (dimensions, thicknesses and nature of the walls and doors, zoning, ventilation system, tube activation signalling system), radioprotection measures (radioprotection equipment, medical and dosimetric monitoring of workers) and compliance with radioprotection rules by workers.

Results: 17 radiology departments, 23 examination rooms, 24 x-ray machines and 53 workers were included. 08 (47%) of the services were publicly and 09 (53%) privately. 21.7% of the rooms were too small.. 13% of the doors were unplumbed. There was an absence of zone delimitation and signage, medical monitoring of workers and internal regulations. 15.09% did not use leaded aprons. Only 3.77% of workers had dosimetric monitoring.

Conclusion: The inadequacies in the application of the principles of radiation protection can be explained by the absence of a regulatory authority

for the medical uses of ionizing radiation and a safety culture.</p>}, number={3}, journal={Journal Africain d’Imagerie Médicale (J Afr Imag Méd).}, author={admin, admin and SAVI de TOVE Kofi-Mensa and FACHINAN Herbert and GOUNONGBE Fabien and AKANNI Djivèdé and ADJOVI Boris Gil-Christ and KIKI Miralda and YEKPE AHOUANSOU Patricia and BIAOU Olivier and BOCO Vicentia}, year={2020}, month={Dec.} }
